Ghana Introduces KPI Framework for Ambassadors and Expands Diplomatic Presence

Accra, September 2025 – Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has unveiled a first-ever Key Performance Indicator (KPI) framework for its ambassadors and high commissioners, a move described as historic by Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Unveiled by President John Mahama at the September Conference of Heads of Mission, the 500-page document sets measurable benchmarks in areas including trade promotion, diaspora engagement, cultural diplomacy, and consular services. A new performance delivery unit, led by former Ambassador Alexander Grant Ntrakwa, will monitor diplomats’ performance to ensure accountability and tangible outcomes.
