Police in Atebubu, Bono East Region, have retrieved the lifeless body of a man believed to be in his 50s at New-Konkrompe, a farming community in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality.
According to reports, residents woke up on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, to the shocking discovery of a nearly decomposed body tied with a rope and hanging from a tree at a refuse dumpsite in the area.
Police, in consultation with the chiefs of New-Konkrompe, buried the body after retrieval.
Some residents, however, expressed concern that the deceased was not a native of the town and insisted that rituals must be performed to pacify the local deity to avoid any possible repercussions.
