Daniel Adomako, 37, a hospital administrator popularly known as Sir-Obama Pokuase, has been charged before the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly publishing false news with the intent to cause fear and panic. He pleaded not guilty before Her Honour Basilia Adjei Tawiah, who granted him bail of GH¢50,000 with three sureties—two to be justified, and the third a public servant earning at least GH¢3,000. Adomako must also report to the police regularly. The case was adjourned to September 22, 2025.

According to the prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Achiburi Issah, the complainant in the matter is the Republic of Ghana. On August 5, 2025, Adomako allegedly posted on Facebook that civilians were in possession of MG3 machine guns “under the watch” of Inspector General of Police, Mr. Christian Yohuno Tetteh. The post reportedly caused public fear and panic.

The National Signal Bureau arrested Adomako on August 13 and handed him over to the police. He admitted to making the post but confessed he had not seen any civilians with such weapons. Investigations, according to the prosecution, revealed the claim was false and aimed at creating insecurity and tarnishing the Ghana Police Service‘s image.

Defence counsel, Mr. Gary Nimako Marfo, argued that Adomako was not a flight risk, noting that he had been invited, not arrested, by the police. He also highlighted that the accused’s and his wife’s phones and laptops were in police custody, reducing any risk of interference with investigations.

At the court premises, several New Patriotic Party figures, including Mr. John Boadu, Mr. Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), and Mr. Henry Nana Boakye, were present in solidarity with Adomako and Prince Ofori, who also faced arraignment.
