MTN Ghana trains 100 girls in ICT and digial skills

MTN Ghana trains 100 Girls in ICT initiative from the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions in a one-day mentorship and digital skills development programme designed to inspire young girls to pursue careers in technology. The event provided participants with first-hand exposure to the telecommunications industry.

Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Mr Stephen Blewett, urged the girls to view technology as a pathway to leadership and innovation. He expressed optimism about their potential, noting that the next big thing should come from Africa and encouraging them to aim high, even towards becoming future CEOs of MTN.

Female executives, including Mrs Jemima Kotei-Walsh, Chief Customer Experience Officer, and Mrs Angela Mensah-Poku, Chief Enterprise Officer, shared personal career experiences and encouraged the girls to persevere in their ambitions. Seven members of MTN’s Women in Technology initiative also provided one-on-one mentorship.

Senior Manager for Corporate Communications, Mrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to bridging the digital gender gap, while Senior Manager for Learning and Development, Mrs Gloria Agyei, outlined the goals of the Women in Technology programme.

The day’s activities included sessions on Child Online Protection and Data Management, a tour of MTN’s Network Monitoring Center, and a visit to a cell site to give participants practical insight into telecommunications operations.
