The National Education Forum Committee is set to finalize and submit its comprehensive report on Ghana’s education sector to the government by March 2025, according to committee member Professor Goski Alabi.

The committee, chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, was established by President John Dramani Mahama as part of his commitment to fostering national dialogue on education. It has been engaging key stakeholders to gather recommendations for reforms aimed at improving the sector.

Speaking on Point Blank on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Prof. Alabi confirmed that stakeholder engagements would conclude by the end of February, after which the committee would compile its findings into a final report.

“We will put all the evidence we have gathered together and present a comprehensive report to the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education in March,” she stated, adding that Parliament would oversee the implementation process.

Meanwhile, President Mahama has assured stakeholders that recommendations from the forum will be taken seriously. Speaking at the forum’s launch in Ho, Volta Region, he reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that the proposals lead to meaningful reforms.

“It must be our collective responsibility to make recommendations that are far-reaching, transformative, and necessary for developing the global Ghanaian. As a government, we are fully committed to this process. I want to assure you that your recommendations will not gather dust on the shelf,” Mahama stated.

The forum’s committee is responsible for defining its agenda, engaging stakeholders, selecting a venue, setting up a secretariat, and preparing a budget as part of its mandate.
