The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has taken its Faith and Wellness Drive to churches in Cape Coast as part of efforts to deepen engagement with faith communities.

The team engaged congregants at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Cape Coast, and The Methodist Church Ghana, Ebenezer Society, Siwdu-Cape Coast, providing education on NHIS benefits, registration and membership renewal services.

Addressing the congregations, Deputy Director in charge of Marketing and Branding at the NHIA, Ms Joyce Angela Asiedu, Esq., said the NHIS covers approximately 95 percent of diseases reported in Ghana and provides access to more than 500 medicines.

She encouraged members to keep their NHIS records updated, particularly their telephone numbers.

“If you have changed the telephone number you used when you last registered with the Scheme, it is important to visit any of our District Offices to have your new number updated in our records,” she stated.

Elder Dr Moses Nyame of PIWC and Rev. Ebenezer Kobina Aidoo, Second Minister of the Methodist Church, Ebenezer Society, commended the initiative and encouraged congregants to enrol and make effective use of the Scheme.

The Faith and Wellness Drive forms part of the NHIS’s efforts to bring health insurance education and services closer to the people through trusted community and faith-based platforms.
