The victims, identified as James Kpanda, 44, and Jonathan Kpanda, 30, sustained gunshot injuries during the incident. A Mercedes-Benz private vehicle, two motorbikes and a fence wall were also destroyed.

Preliminary investigations indicate that at about 10:30 a.m., some young men, including the two victims, allegedly went to the residence of suspect Mensah Awagah and began pulling down his fence wall.

According to the police, the suspect reportedly became infuriated, retrieved a gun from his room and fired at the group, resulting in gunshot injuries to James and Jonathan, who sustained injuries to the knee and eye, respectively.

The report further stated that the angry youth later went on a rampage and set fire to a Mercedes-Benz vehicle and two motorbikes parked within the suspect’s residence.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were called to the scene, but the vehicles had already been burnt before their arrival.

Suspect Mensah Awagah is currently in Police custody assisting investigations, while the injured victims are receiving treatment at the Akatsi District Hospital.

Police said a manhunt is underway for other suspects involved in the incident, while further updates will be communicated in due course.
