The Ghana National Fire Service has prevented the destruction of a 13-bedroom apartment after a fire broke out at Wassa Kwabeng in the Western Region.
The Asankrangwa Fire Station responded to a distress call on 8 May 2026 at about 1316hrs. A firefighting team led by ADOII Sylvester Appiah Kubi arrived at the scene at 1335hrs and found the building engulfed in flames.

Firefighters deployed tactical cooling methods to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the entire structure. The fire was brought under control at 1348hrs and fully extinguished at 1409hrs.
Five bedrooms and their contents were destroyed, while eight other rooms and their belongings were salvaged.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Western Regional Command of the Fire Service commended the crew for their swift response and professionalism.
