ACCRA, 10 May 2026 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the rescue and repatriation of 28 Ghanaian nationals from Côte d’Ivoire following an operation targeting a human trafficking network.
The victims, mostly youth, were rescued through a joint operation involving security operatives and officials of the Ghana Embassy in Abidjan.

The Ministry said the rescued persons arrived safely in Ghana on 10 May 2026 and are currently assisting with investigations.
The government commended the Ivorian authorities for their collaboration and intelligence sharing during the operation.
The Ministry advised Ghanaians to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to trafficking schemes, adding that efforts are ongoing to dismantle the criminal networks and bring those responsible to justice.
It also cautioned the public against dealing with unlicensed recruitment agencies promising travel and job opportunities. It urged citizens to verify such offers with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment Relations, and Ghana’s diplomatic missions abroad.
The Ministry stated that the welfare of Ghanaians remains a top priority.
