Spain to legalise 500k migrants, Ghana offers support

Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has welcomed Spain‘s plan to legalise 500,000 undocumented migrants.

He made this known after meeting Spain’s Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares Bueno, in Barcelona on April 17, 2026.

The policy, running from April 16 to June 2026, will grant legal status, protect migrant rights, and provide jobs.

Ablakwa said Ghana is ready to support its citizens with the required documents to benefit from the programme.

Both countries also agreed to strengthen cooperation in maritime security and pursue labour mobility agreements.
