The Ghana Gold Board has held talks with the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners and the Concerned Small-Scale Miners Association of Ghana on issues affecting gold production.
Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, raised concerns about purity losses within the gold value chain and their impact on the Board’s finances.

He called for stronger collaboration with small-scale miners to address the challenge and improve efficiency in the sector.
Hon. Gyamfi reaffirmed that up to 30 per cent of the Board’s surplus is allocated to support small-scale miners and invited the associations to submit a working plan to guide implementation of support initiatives.
He said plans are underway to provide equipment and technical assistance and to procure patrol boats to help tackle illegal mining on water bodies.
The Board said it remains focused on formalising the sector, improving transparency, increasing gold output, and promoting responsible mining practices.
