Ghana has recorded a 5.1 percent decline in armed robbery cases, a development the government says reflects improving security conditions across the country.
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, disclosed this during a recent briefing, noting that the reduction is the result of intensified security operations and stronger coordination among law enforcement agencies.

According to him, the Ghana Police Service and other security bodies have stepped up intelligence-led operations, increased patrols in high-risk areas, and deployed additional personnel to crime-prone communities. These measures, he said, have contributed significantly to deterring criminal activity.
The Minister also pointed to improved collaboration between the police and local communities as a key factor in the progress made. He emphasized that timely information sharing and public cooperation have enhanced the ability of security agencies to prevent and respond to incidents.
Despite the positive trend, he cautioned against complacency, stressing that efforts are ongoing to further reduce crime and ensure public safety. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
Security analysts say while the decline is encouraging, sustained investment in policing, technology, and community engagement will be necessary to maintain and improve upon the gains.
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening internal security as part of broader efforts to protect lives and property and maintain stability across Ghana.
