Otumfuo Osei Tutu II takes temporary break from official duties

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has taken a temporary break from all official duties with effect from February 3, 2026.

In furtherance of this decision, His Majesty departed the country on Tuesday morning. The break is expected to allow the Asantehene time away from official engagements, in line with customary and administrative arrangements of the Asante Kingdom.

In his absence, responsibility for the administration of Kumasi has been delegated to Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, the Bantamahene. Meanwhile, oversight of broader Asanteman affairs has been entrusted to Nana Dwamena Akenten II, the Offinsohene.

The delegation of authority ensures continuity in traditional leadership and governance within the Asante Kingdom while Otumfuo Osei Tutu II remains away. Further updates are expected to be communicated through official traditional channels as necessary.
