Dr Dominic Akuritenga Ayine, the successful parliamentary candidate and Member of Parliament for the Zuarungu Constituency, has called for united efforts to advance their development agenda.
Speaking to journalists, Dr Ayine expressed the significance of the just-concluded primaries, stating, “This marks the beginning of another milestone not just for me as an MP but for the progress of the NDC in the constituency.”
He highlighted several projects initiated by the NDC in the area, including phase two of the Zuarungu Central market, the Zuarungu township roads, and the Zuarungu community library, which faced delays due to insufficient funds from the Central Government.
Dr Ayine shared his vision for the next four years, emphasizing his plans to establish a maternity ward for the Katanga Community, stating, “It is yet to be achieved since the project is still at the foundation level.”
He underlined the importance of completing ongoing projects and initiating new ones for the development of the district and constituency, adding, “My focus is to ensure that all projects are completed for the use of the people of the constituency.”
Dr Ayine emphasized the necessity of consultation with chiefs, opinion leaders, and the electorate when initiating new projects, stating, “When the demands are beyond our capacity to fulfil, we have to take it up with the Central government.”
Addressing criticisms of project distribution, he clarified, “From a previous 10 electoral areas, we now have 16 electoral areas, and each area has a major project.”
The MP highlighted various completed projects, such as the Zuarungu central market, the Zuarugu community library, the E-block school in Gambibgo, and the ICT centre in Yarigabisi.
Regarding electricity access, Dr Ayine noted, “23 communities which did not have electricity in the past are now connected to the national grid.”
However, he acknowledged the need to connect other areas and mentioned the challenges of reaching households located far from the connection points.
Dr Ayine concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the constituency's development, stating, “We need the cooperation of all stakeholders to achieve our desired goals.”
