Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, emphasized peace and security as significant accomplishments of his leadership during a media engagement in the Region.
Dr Letsa praised the efforts to quell volatile situations in areas such as Nkonya and Alavanyo, considering it a major achievement of his administration.
Addressing reporters at a dinner event in Ho, Dr Letsa acknowledged the challenges posed by conflicts in Nkonya and Alavanyo in 2017, expressing gratitude to security heads and various stakeholders for their efforts in restoring peace.
He also commended the resilience of the people and stakeholders during periods of turmoil related to secessionist attempts in the Region.
Dr. Letsa highlighted the Region's benefits from various government initiatives, including free education, improvements in road infrastructure, and advancements in healthcare.
He particularly praised the Region's resilience during recent flooding in districts in the lower Volta basin, assuring ongoing efforts to provide permanent resettlement solutions.
The Regional Minister expressed appreciation for the media's role in promoting the Region's tourism appeal and attributed the success of the 2023 Volta Trade and Invest Fair to media efforts.
He reassured his commitment to the Region's economic progress and emphasized the importance of selling its investment potential to the international community.
Dr Letsa pledged the Volta Regional Coordinating Council's commitment to collaborating with the media, considering them as partners in building the Region.
He emphasized the need for continued support for peace in the Region, especially during the upcoming election year, urging that it should not affect the prevailing peace in the area.
