The Volta Development Forum (VDF) has pledged its commitment to providing technical support in finding a lasting solution to the perennial flooding in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region. The Forum expressed concern about the devastating effects of the floods following an assessment tour of the affected areas on July 8, 2023.
“We are determined to work with the Ho Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders in the region to find a lasting solution to the flooding problem in the municipality,” stated Daniel Agboka-Dzegede, the VDF Executive Director, during a meeting with the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Divine Boson.
Mr Dzegede hinted at collaborating with the Ho Municipal Assembly to develop a comprehensive plan to tackle the flooding issue. The plan includes the construction of new drainage systems, the installation of pumps, and establishment a flood warning system.
Commending the efforts of Chief Executive Divine Bosson, Mr. Dzegede acknowledged his commitment to the municipality's development despite limited resources.
He also urged the Ministry of Works and Housing to visit the affected municipality and assess the damages caused by the disaster. Furthermore, he implored stakeholders to come together to provide necessary support to the victims of the recent flooding incident.
Additionally, Mr. Dzegede emphasized the importance of collaboration to enhance Ho's reputation as the “oxygen city” and make it a preferred destination for tourists. He stressed the significance of maintaining the region's cleanliness to attract tourists, who visit the area regularly.
