The Volta and Oti Regional chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) kicked off the year 2024 with a ‘Media Fraternity Love Hangout,' bringing together media practitioners from the two regions for an evening of fun, interaction, and camaraderie.
Mr. Emmanuel Agbaxode, Chairman of the Volta and Oti GJA, explained that the event aimed to foster a sense of community among journalists, allowing them to unwind and discuss plans for the Association in the new year.
“The year 2023 has been a challenging one, but we thank God we went through successfully. We need to have proper plans for the new year,” stated Mr. Agbaxode.
He urged journalists to uphold decency in their work, emphasizing the importance of accurate reporting that informs, educates, entertains, and contributes to the peaceful agenda of the region.
Commending colleagues for their support, Mr. Agbaxode called for continued assistance to enhance the Association's programs, including capacity-building training workshops and the upcoming 2024 GJA Regional Awards.
“This event will be held every year to enable members to have their own time to take away any stress due to the nature of the inky profession,” Mr. Agbaxode announced.
The ‘Media Fraternity Love Hangout,' held at the Volta/ Oti GJA Press Centre in Ho on January 13, witnessed a day filled with camaraderie, laughter, and festivities.
Dignitaries, including political figures and officials from government agencies and the private sector, joined the event, engaging in informal discussions covering topics related to development, security, and peace.
