In response to circulating allegations on various social media platforms, Dr Gideon Boako, the spokesperson for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has vehemently refuted claims that the Vice President holds British citizenship.
Taking to his Facebook page, Dr Gideon Boako expressed in no uncertain terms that Dr Bawumia has never possessed British citizenship or any other citizenship throughout his life.
“The Office of the Vice President has been made aware of a malicious social media accusation suggesting that the Vice President holds British citizenship while holding the esteemed position of Vice President, which is contrary to Ghanaian law,” Dr Boako's statement declared.
“We wish to categorically state that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is not a holder of British citizenship and has never been a citizen of Britain or any other country apart from being a proud Ghanaian.”
The statement further emphasized that such an allegation should be dismissed with the disdain it deserves.
