Unauthorized dam spillage sparks outrage and devastation in Ningo Prampram

The Member of for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has expressed deep frustration and condemnation following the unauthorized spillage of the Dawhenya dam on November 27, 2023.

Terming it a flagrant act of negligence and irresponsibility, Hon George highlighted the severe consequences of the spillage, which has led to widespread devastation, displacing hundreds of residents and submerging numerous properties in floodwaters.

In a scathing rebuke aimed at the officials responsible for managing the dam, Hon George lamented the lack of discipline and accountability, emphasizing that the spillage was a result of actions taken without due consideration for the potential consequences.

“I am trying to get the name of the immediate past manager of the irrigation project at Dawhenya, and I will put it out in public and demand that whichever ministry is involved must demand from him what authority he had to spill portions of the irrigation dam to foreigners. I am hearing, Chinese and Indians,” he asserted during an interview on Eyewitness News.

The unauthorized spillage has not only triggered a humanitarian crisis but has also raised questions about the decision-making process and oversight related to dam management.

Hon George, known for his advocacy on environmental issues, expressed his commitment to unveiling the details of those responsible for the spillage and holding them accountable.

Despite the severity of the situation, Hon George assured the affected residents that he would work tirelessly to ensure normalcy is restored in the area.
