Three groups team up to promote juvenile golf in Obuasi

Obuasi-based Mama Love Foundation partners with Captain One Golf Society and Obuasi Golf Club to provide golf training to children from foster homes and underprivileged backgrounds.

The initiative is part of the ‘deprived kids project' introduced by Captain One Golf Society and implemented by the Obuasi Golf Club, aimed at developing interest in golf among underprivileged children.

The programme will kick-start in Obuasi with girls from the Mama Love Foundation, who are already undergoing skills development training in dressmaking, hairdressing, and baking, among others.

Speaking to the media, the Captain of the Obuasi Golf Club, Stephen Dapaah, said the initiative aims to demystify the notion that golf is only for the rich and to nurture the talent of juvenile golfers in Obuasi.

He added that the club has established a golf academy to train kids and nurture them to be good golfers in the future.

The Secretary of the Obuasi Golf Club, Paul Baah Nuakoh, explained that the training of children from the Mama Love Foundation is a pilot project that will be rolled out across various children's homes in Obuasi.

The benefits of golf as a sport were highlighted by Nuakoh, including social, financial, and health benefits that are vital to the development of mankind.

The President of Mama Love Foundation, Reverend Dr Love Konadu, expressed her excitement for enrolling kids from her foundation into the program, stating that the lessons from golf will bode well for their development.
