President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in 17 newly approved ministers, reaffirming his commitment to a lean and efficient government.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, brings the total number of ministers appointed so far to 42. Mahama has pledged to cap his government’s ministerial appointments at 60, with 13 deputy ministers currently awaiting parliamentary approval and four more nominees expected in the coming days.
Among the newly sworn-in sector ministers are Kwabena Mintah-Akandoh (Health), Sam George (Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation), Kofi Adams (Sports), Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (Environment, Science and Technology), Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (Foreign Affairs), Joseph Bukari Nikpe (Transport), Felix Kwakye Ofosu (Government Communications), Rashid Pelpuo (Labour), and Issifu Seidu (Climate Change and Sustainability).
The newly appointed regional ministers include Charity Gardiner (Ahafo), Salifu Bi-Awuribe (Savannah), Joseph Nelson (Western), Wilbert Petty Brentum (Western-North), Joseph Addae Akwaboa (Bono), Charles Lwanga Puozuing (Upper West), Francis Owusu Antwi (Bono East), and Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere (Central).
Mahama reiterated his administration’s focus on responsible governance and respect for public resources, warning against extravagance.
“The hallmark of this government will be modesty and respect for the Ghanaian people. There will be no room for arrogance and pomposity in this government. Those resources are not to be wasted,” he stated.
With his commitment to reducing ministerial appointments to 60, Mahama aims to run a more efficient administration while ensuring effective service delivery.
