Wenchi Traditional Council issues ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen for cattle relocation: Ghana News

The Wenchi Traditional Council in the has issued a seven-day ultimatum for Fulani to relocate their cattle from Wenchi land.

Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the of Wenchi Traditional Area, presided over the decision and directed sub-chiefs to enforce the ultimatum.

The move comes in response to the uncontrolled activities of the nomadic , who have been grazing their cattle on farms and causing damage to properties in the traditional area.

Osagyefo Tabrako expressed concern about the destruction caused by the herdsmen, including damage to water bodies in the region.

The highlighted that local middlemen were allegedly leading and encouraging the herdsmen to operate in the area.

He cautioned those involved to cease such practices, emphasizing the impact on cashew farms, a significant source of income for many residents.

Osagyefo Tabrako expressed dissatisfaction with the Wenchi Municipal Security Committee's unsuccessful efforts to address the issue.

He warned the herdsmen to comply with the ultimatum within seven days or face consequences from the Traditional Council.
