Startling documents obtained from President Akufo-Addo‘s office have shed light on a controversial identity scheme involving Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.
The documents indicate that the President, his Secretary, and his Chief of Staff were aware of the scheme during the approval processes for granting a diplomatic passport to Kusi Boateng/Adu Gyamfi.
The revelations have raised serious questions about the Akufo-Addo presidency‘s role. The Human Rights Court has described the scheme as “bordering on criminality,” but the presidency reportedly did not object to the conduct.
According to the documents, express approval for a diplomatic passport and instructions to the Foreign Minister was given between November 3rd and 10th, 2021, despite the office of the President receiving the unlawful request.
The use of multiple identities by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng/Kwabena Adu Gyamfi has raised concerns about the due diligence conducted by the presidential office and national security apparatus.
The discrepancies included double dates of birth, double mothers, double Tax Identification Numbers (TINs), double Voter ID Cards, different Driving Licenses, different WAEC records, and multiple companies registered under the two distinct identities.
North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed concern over the alleged presidential involvement in the scheme, stating, “Clearly, these latest shocking revelations make the Akufo-Addo presidency deeply complicit and as guilty as sin for actively facilitating and erecting this criminal double identity edifice.”
The controversy surrounding Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng/Kwabena Adu Gyamfi's identities has also raised questions about his position on the “National” Cathedral Board of Trustees. Despite mounting pressure, President Akufo-Addo has not removed him from the board.
Ghanaians are demanding accountability and transparency in light of the revelations. Calls for investigations and potential criminal prosecution are growing as the public seeks answers to the perplexing situation.
The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/Dame government has been accused of persecuting political opponents while hesitating to take action against Kusi Boateng/Adu Gyamfi. The opposition is demanding accountability, and the day of reckoning for those involved in the identity scheme may be fast approaching.
