Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai MCE assesses disaster risks in communities: Ghana News

Mr Paul Andoh, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bibiani Anhwiaso , has conducted a comprehensive disaster risk assessment in four communities within the municipality.

The assessment aims to identify potential measures to prevent floods and minimize incidents as the rainy season approaches.

The decision to conduct the assessment was prompted by numerous complaints from residents regarding the need for improvements in roads, gutters, and other waterways.

Recognizing the importance of addressing these concerns, the MCE assured the community that the government is actively collaborating with the municipality to tackle long-standing  issues in certain areas.

In his address, Mr Andoh urged the residents to refrain from disposing of waste and solid materials at unauthorized sites and gutters. He emphasized the significance of avoiding construction on waterways, as such practices exacerbate flooding.

To combat this issue, the MCE stated that the assembly is prepared to demolish any buildings or structures erected on waterways to mitigate flooding risks within the municipality.
