The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Obuasi, Ashanti Region, has demonstrated its commitment to community cleanliness by organizing a large-scale clean-up exercise at the Horsey Park Lorry Terminal.
The initiative aligns with Islamic teachings that emphasize the importance of cleanliness, stating, “Cleanliness is half of faith.”
Maulvi Rashid Mahmood Minhas, Leader of the Mission, highlighted the civic responsibility of residents, stating, “As residents and citizens of Obuasi, it behoves us to make our communities clean.
This is part of our responsibilities, and we are happy to have organized our members to embark on this exercise.” He announced that the clean-up would become an annual event on the Mission's calendar.
The clean-up, conducted in collaboration with the Obuasi Municipal Assembly through the New Nsuta Auntie B Electoral Area member, aims to raise awareness about environmental cleanliness and encourage behavioral change in the community.
Mr. Ishaque Ibrahim Amfoh, the Circuit Missionary for Obuasi West, stressed the communal benefits of the exercise and revealed plans to intensify the campaign for broader community participation.
“While we are cleaning the environment, we are also sensitizing the public to get involved whenever there is a clean-up exercise,” he noted, hoping that such initiatives would inspire onlookers to contribute to the environmental well-being.
Addressing the upcoming general election in December, Mr. Amfoh emphasized the role of faith-based organizations in ensuring a peaceful and successful election.
In addition to prayers for a peaceful election, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission will educate its members to refrain from engaging in electoral malpractices, contributing to a positive and responsible electoral process.
