The town of Abesim has been gripped by fear and panic following the suspected murder of a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, Elvis Amponsah Boahen.
The lifeless body of Boahen was discovered with bruises on his neck near a hairdressing salon in Abesim-Dominase, near Sunyani, around 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
The police have taken the body to the Bono Regional Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The tragic death of the boy has left the community in shock, with scores of people gathered at the family residence to discuss the incident, some openly grieving for the loss.
Mr Elvis Amponsah, the father of the deceased and a taxi driver, revealed in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the boy had been playing in the vicinity but suddenly went missing. After an unsuccessful search, they discovered his body near a hairdressing salon, with cuts and marks around his neck, leading the family to suspect foul play.
Mr Amponsah appealed to the police to conduct a thorough and timely investigation.
A police source, confirming the incident to the GNA, stated that investigations into the matter had already commenced.
The community anxiously awaits answers as the authorities work to uncover the truth behind the tragic death of young Elvis Amponsah Boahen.
