Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has proudly announced the inclusion of 20 female-owned businesses in Cohort 3 of the esteemed Standard Chartered Women in Technology (SCWIT) Incubator program.
This comprehensive nine-month incubator is specifically designed to empower women-led start-ups and equip them with the essential resources and support needed to thrive in the technology industry.
Following a rigorous pitch process, five exceptional participants will be granted seed funding of $10,000, equivalent in Ghana cedis, to invest in their respective businesses.
This initiative aligns with the bank's strategic focus on investing in female-owned businesses to foster greater prosperity and diversity within the communities it serves, with a particular emphasis on supporting innovation, infrastructure, and technology.
Through the SCWIT Incubator program, women entrepreneurs are provided with a platform to build capacity and unlock their full potential in the business world.
The program is implemented in collaboration with the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre, an esteemed business incubator affiliated with Ashesi University.
During the keynote address, Winifred Kotin, CEO of Eagle Innovations, shared her entrepreneurial journey and experiences. She emphasized the crucial role that successful entrepreneurs and enterprises play in laying a solid foundation for economic development.
Kotin advised women entrepreneurs to have a clear vision, define their ideal businesses and target customers, and devise strategies to overcome potential challenges. She encouraged them to embrace innovation and enjoy the journey towards greatness.
Expressing his warm welcome to the inductees, Kwame Asante, Head of Transaction Banking at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, reaffirmed the bank's commitment to promoting sustainable and equitable economic and social development.
He stated, “Our purpose is to drive commerce and prosperity through our unique diversity. The SCWIT Incubator aims to empower women-led start-ups and provide them with the necessary resources and support to take their businesses to the next level.”
