The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac following the team’s disappointing performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon.
The Serbian coach’s dismissal came after Ghana suffered an early exit from the competition, finishing bottom of Group C without recording a single victory. The Black Stars managed only one point from three matches after defeats to Morocco and Comoros and a draw against Gabon.

Rajevac, who was appointed in September 2021 as a replacement for C.K. Akonnor, had guided Ghana to the final stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers before his departure.
In a statement, the GFA said its Executive Council took the decision after reviewing reports from the coach, the medical team and the Black Stars management committee. The association also announced that the management committee would be reconstituted.
“The Executive Council after considering the three reports and engagements with key stakeholders has decided to end its relationship with Coach Milovan Rajevac,” the GFA stated.
The GFA thanked Rajevac and the management committee for their service and said a new technical team and management structure would be announced after consultations with relevant stakeholders.
Ghana’s next major assignment at the time was the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against Nigeria, scheduled for March 2022.
