Black Stars captain André Ayew has been declared fit and available for Ghana’s crucial Group C encounter against Gabon at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
The Al Sadd forward had suffered a head injury during Ghana’s opening match against Morocco, where the Black Stars lost 1-0. He was subsequently monitored by the medical team after missing a training session as a precautionary measure.

Despite concerns over his availability, head coach Milovan Rajevac confirmed that Ayew had recovered and would be ready for the game, although he declined to reveal whether the captain would start.
“André Dede Ayew is in stitches but doing okay. He will definitely be ready,” Rajevac said.
Ghana needed a positive result against Gabon after their opening defeat to Morocco, with the team hoping to revive their chances of progressing to the knockout stage of the tournament.
The match was scheduled to take place at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé.
