Ayew is set to return to the Black Stars after missing the team’s previous two matches through suspension following his red card during Ghana’s disappointing exit from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations at the hands of Comoros.
President Akufo-Addo has consistently expressed his support for the national team, describing the Black Stars as a source of pride and unity for the country.
The Black Stars are scheduled to begin their 2023 AFCON qualifying campaign against Madagascar on June 1, 2022, at the Cape Coast Stadium, with Ayew expected to play a key role in the team’s quest to secure qualification for the continental tournament.
