Accra Lions strengthened their bid to avoid relegation with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Legon Cities in their matchday 28 fixture of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.
The crucial win moved Accra Lions five points clear of the relegation zone with six matches remaining in the season.

The hosts dominated much of the first half, creating several scoring opportunities but failing to convert them as Legon Cities’ defence stood firm to keep the game goalless at the break.
The match became more competitive after the restart, with both teams searching for the opening goal. Legon Cities enjoyed more possession in midfield through quick passing, but struggled to create clear-cut chances.
Accra Lions broke the deadlock just three minutes into the second half when Seidu Bassit finished from close range after a well-worked attacking move.
Legon Cities pressed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but the Accra Lions defence remained resolute to preserve the slender advantage and secure all three points.
The victory was Accra Lions’ 10th league win of the campaign after 28 matches and provided a significant boost to their survival hopes.
They will now turn their attention to their next fixture, where they travel to Sogakope to face WAFA in a matchday 29 encounter of the Ghana Premier League.
