Review of MASLOC loans disbursement - Bono East Minister suggests
MASLOC loans distribution

Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan, the Regional Minister, has suggested the Board and Management of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) must consider reviewing the criteria for selecting and disbursing loans to clients.

He said there must be criteria that guaranteed a more effective way of loan recovery from beneficiaries for the sustainability of that socio-economic intervention in the interest of the public.

Mr Adu-Gyan made the suggestion when Hajia Abibata Shani Mahama Zakaria, the Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, paid a courtesy call on him at his office in as part of her one-day working visit to the region.

Hajia Zakaria was accompanied by her deputy, Mr Kwabena Asamoah and other officers in the region to hold meetings with stakeholders on how to sustain the MASLOC for more successful and impactful operations.

Mr Adu-Gyan proposed for MASLOC to create business cottages for organised groups in the communities to make the loans repayments easier instead of the current practice where some beneficiaries refused to pay back their loans.

Hajia Zakaria expressed worry over the low recovery rate of monies disbursed in the region, saying that more than GH¢8 million had been disbursed but only a little over GH¢2 million had been paid.
