A government delegation from the Republic of Vanuatu, led by Mr Seoule Davidson Simeon, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic, along with four senior Ministers and Members of Parliament, is scheduled to visit Ghana from Monday, July 3 to Friday, July 14, 2023.
The visit, upon the invitation of Professor Hugh Aryee, the Trade Commissioner of Vanuatu to Ghana, aims to strengthen bilateral trade relations, foster political affiliation, and facilitate dialogues between relevant ministries and the Ghanaian business community.
In a statement issued by Prof Aryee, it was noted that during their stay in Ghana, the delegation is expected to meet with the President of the Republic, address the Parliament of Ghana, and engage with various business entities to highlight the significance and benefits of investing in Vanuatu.
The statement further mentioned that the delegation would participate in a vibrant flag-raising ceremony, alongside sub-regional countries falling under the jurisdiction of the Trade Commissioner, to be held at the Forecourt of the Trade Commission.
Additionally, the delegation is set to visit famous tourist sites in Ghana, including the Cape Coast Slave Castle and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, to pay tribute to the remarkable history and legacy of Ghana's first president.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Mr Simeon, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Vanuatu, conveyed his joy and optimism about the first official visit of the Parliament of Vanuatu and the government delegation to the Republic of Ghana.
Accompanying Mr Simeon, the delegation includes Mr Seremaiah Matai Nawalu, Member of Parliament and Minister of Trade, Industry, Tourism, and Ni-Vanuatu Businesses; Mr Anatole Hymak, Member of Parliament and Chairman of Economics and Foreign Policies Standing Committees of Vanuatu Parliament; Mr Noel Kalo, Director of the Department of Trade; and Mr Gaetan Ruru, responsible for Interparliamentary Relations at the office of the parliament of Vanuatu.
The Republic of Vanuatu is an island nation in the South Pacific Ocean, located northeast of New Caledonia, east of Australia, and west of Fiji. Comprising a Y-shaped chain of fourteen main islands, the region is known for its volcanic origin and boasts numerous active volcanoes.
Island visitors can enjoy scuba diving adventures at coral reefs, underwater caverns, and shipwrecks such as the WWII-era troopship SS President Coolidge.
