Bright Kojo Onipayede, a prominent Ghanaian forex trader, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Albert Nathaniel Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas.
Kojo Forex alleges that Bongo Ideas made damaging statements about him on Twitter, tarnishing his reputation.
In the lawsuit, Kojo Forex is seeking GH¢1 million in compensation and a permanent injunction to prevent Bongo Ideas from making any further defamatory remarks about him.
Furthermore, Kojo Forex insists on an unqualified apology to be issued on social media and the retraction of the defamatory tweets.
Kojo Forex shared more details about the lawsuit on his Twitter handle. Earlier this year in April, Kojo Forex had issued a stern warning to Bongo Ideas after the blogger went on a Twitter rant targeting him.
Bongo Ideas alleged, among other things, that “Forex trading alone did not get you these things. You do other shady business.” He also claimed that Kojo Forex's success in forex trading was not due to his skills but rather a part of a secretive online business empire. Bongo Ideas further stated, “You will soon be disappointed that FX is not a get-rich-quick-scheme.”
Kojo Forex vehemently denied these allegations and asserted that Bongo Ideas was attacking him because he refused to be his mentor. The exchange of heated remarks on social media culminated in Kojo Forex's threat to take Bongo Ideas to court to prove the claims made against him, leading to the current lawsuit.
It is worth noting that Bongo Ideas is known for trolling celebrities on Twitter, frequently targeting public figures such as Nana Aba Anamoah, Serwaa Amihere, Asamoah Gyan, Shatta Wale, Fella Makafui, Black Sherif, and others.
