
Hon. Ernest Kumi is the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Born on Wednesday, 5th December 1984, and hailing from Akim Wenchi, he is a first-time legislator with a strong academic and professional background rooted in governance, law, security, and maritime administration.
He holds a Master of Science in Defence and International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (2022), an MBA in Corporate Governance from the University of Professional Studies (2014), a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Mountcrest University College (2019), and a BSc in Ports and Shipping Administration from the Regional Maritime University (2009).

Prior to entering Parliament, Hon. Kumi served in a senior capacity at American Tower Corporation, where he was the Senior Manager for Securities, as well as Manager for Administration and Financial Reporting Services—roles that refined his expertise in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic operations.
In Parliament, he serves on the Lands and Natural Resources Committee and the House Committee, where his multidisciplinary knowledge continues to inform legislative deliberations and national policy development.
