The Coalition for Youth Development in Okyeman has called for greater respect for Ghana’s past and present leaders, following alleged derogatory remarks made about JB Danquah in Parliament.

During a recent parliamentary session, Tamale Central MP Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed reportedly described JB Danquah as a CIA operative and a traitor. In response, the coalition petitioned Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, expressing concern over the comment.

Speaking to Channel One Newsroom on March 7, the group’s convenor, Akomane Yeboah, stressed the need for respectful discourse when discussing national figures.

“It is essential that we respect our leaders, those who are gone and those who are alive. We should treasure them because they are the people who laid down their lives for this country. Unsavoury comments like this should not be entertained in our body politics,” Yeboah stated.

The group has urged politicians to uphold decorum in national discussions, emphasizing that the legacy of leaders like JB Danquah should not be tarnished by unverified claims.
