Mahama meets the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs over development issues

President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang have received the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, led by Nana Owusu Sakyi III, President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, at the Jubilee House.

The delegation, made up of Paramount Chiefs, Queen Mothers and traditional leaders from across the region, was accompanied by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi.

According to the Presidency, the chiefs paid a courtesy call on the President to discuss development issues and matters of shared national interest affecting the Bono East Region.

During the meeting, the chiefs commended the government for progress made so far, while President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the economy and supporting the region’s role in agriculture, trade and commerce, especially in Techiman and surrounding communities.

The President also outlined key interventions planned for the region, including the establishment of special markets under the 24-hour economy initiative, the development of Farmer Service Centres, the construction of a 50,000-tonne cashew processing factory, major road infrastructure projects and plans to establish a regional hospital for Bono East.
