Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has refuted claims that public funds are being used for the construction of the new Hajj Village, stating that the project is fully financed by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

In a statement shared on X, Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that no taxpayer money is involved, dismissing speculation about the funding source. His clarification follows growing public interest and debate over the project’s purpose and financing.

President John Dramani Mahama officially broke ground for the construction of the Hajj Village on Friday, February 28. The facility is designed to support Ghanaian Muslims preparing for the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, ensuring a more organized and efficient departure process.

As part of this year’s Hajj arrangements, President Mahama has also announced plans to airlift 5,000 Ghanaian pilgrims.
