Oguaa Traditional Area Chief donates bedspreads to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital : Ghana News

Nana Kweku Yensu I, the Sanaahen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, has demonstrated his commitment to improving healthcare by donating 100 pieces of bedspread to the Teaching Hospital (CCTH).

The gesture aims to contribute to the hospital's efforts to provide quality healthcare and address some of its challenges.

Handing over the items at his residence, Nana Yensu emphasized the importance of creating a conducive patient environment.

He expressed concern about challenges at the and Emergency (AE) Ward, including insufficient beds, equipment, and medication issues, which he believes impact the quality of care.

“We pride ourselves with tourism in Cape Coast but if tourists come and fall sick and don't find treatment in good health facilities, they will not come back. That will hurt our development and progress,” Nana Yensu remarked.

The chief assured the donation was an interim intervention and pledged more significant arrangements to address future hospital challenges.

Mrs. Betty Quartson, Chief Nursing Officer at CCTH, received the donation with gratitude, stating it would significantly support hospital operations.

She appealed to the Chief to consider adopting one of the two wards, either the AE or the theatre of the Surgical Department, to enhance efficiency.

“Government brings us some support but that alone is not enough. We also receive support from some groups and individuals from time to time, but we are appealing for more of such support to help us serve the public better,” Mrs. Quartson said.
