NPA staff embark on clean-up exercise at Dzorwulu as part of welfare week

Staff of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on Wednesday undertook a clean-up exercise around their office premises and the streets of Dzorwulu to rid the community of filth.

The activity, organised with support from the Bus Stop Boys as part of the Authority’s welfare week celebration, was aimed at promoting a healthy working environment while fostering teamwork among staff. Workers swept the streets, desilted drains, and collected refuse to enhance environmental health and sustainability.

Mr Daniel Oduro Mintah, Secretary of the NPA Staff Welfare Association, said the initiative was meant to encourage other corporate institutions to play active roles in maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.
“It is not the responsibility of government or cleaning agencies alone. All workers must help keep their offices and frontages clean,” he said.

He further urged hawkers in the Dzorwulu area to properly dispose of waste generated during their daily activities.

Madam Maureen Adowa Duori, a staff member of the NPA, said the clean-up highlighted the Authority’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community well-being. She called for stronger collaboration between corporate organisations and community groups to achieve a cleaner Ghana.

The exercise formed part of the NPA Staff Welfare Week, celebrated from August 25 to September 1, to promote staff bonding and recognise their contributions to the organisation’s growth. The event, which involves about 600 staff across the regions, is held annually.

The NPA, established by an Act of Parliament (Act 691, 2005), regulates Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry to ensure efficiency, fairness, profitability, and value for money for consumers.
