Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has been honoured with the Outstanding Public Sector Leadership Award for his remarkable leadership, innovation, and transformative efforts within Ghana's petroleum downstream industry.

The prestigious accolade acknowledges his dedication and professionalism in effectively regulating the petroleum downstream sector. The award was presented to him during the seventh Ghana CEO Summit, which took place in Accra.

In addition to Dr Abdul-Hamid's recognition, Mr Joe Addo-Yobo, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the NPA, was bestowed with the Public Sector Board Chairman of the Year 2022 award.

Representing Dr Abdul-Hamid and Mr Addo-Yobo, Mr Bernard Owusu, a member of the NPA Governing Board, received the awards amidst resounding applause from the audience, consisting of industry leaders and business development experts.

The event, featuring speeches and panel discussions, centred around the theme: “Economic Sovereignty, Sustainable Corporate Governance, Digital Industrial Transformation: New Paths for Growth and Prosperity. A Private-Public Sector CEO Dialogue & Learning.”

It is worth mentioning that Dr Abdul-Hamid had previously been recognized as the Public Sector CEO of the Year 2022 at the Ghana Business Awards. Similarly, in 2021, he was honoured with awards for his exceptional leadership, business excellence, and professionalism at the Ghana CEO Excellence Awards.

During his address at the seventh Ghana CEO Summit, Mr Ernest De-Graft Egyir, CEO of Chief Executives Network Ghana, highlighted that the awards aimed to acknowledge the exemplary leadership, innovation, and transformative actions demonstrated by industry leaders in both the public and private sectors.

Furthermore, Prof. Ayaz A. Shafi, a business development expert, emphasized the importance of businesses reassessing their operational structures and leadership approaches.

He encouraged industry captains to leverage emerging trends and issues to foster growth and sustainability, asserting that neglecting such opportunities would lead to failure.
