Nana Akomea a key figure within the 2024 NPP flagbearer's camp has revealed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is yet to finalize his choice for a running mate, despite widespread speculation. In an interview with JoyNews, Nana Akomea emphasized that the decision rests solely with Dr. Bawumia, who has not yet presented a list of potential candidates for consideration.
Nana Akomea explained that the selection process involves careful consideration of various factors, including gender, origin, and personality. While there may be a pool of individuals under consideration, Dr Bawumia has not made a final decision on his running mate.
According to the Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Dr Bawumia may announce his choice between April and May, indicating that there is still ample time for the decision-making process. He expressed confidence that whoever Dr Bawumia selects would benefit the party in the general elections.
Highlighting Dr Bawumia's significance in the Northern Region and his ability to garner support nationwide, Nana Akomea underscored the Vice President's status as a formidable candidate. He referenced Dr Bawumia's role in securing parliamentary seats for the NPP in the Northern Region and his reputation as a political force to be reckoned with.
The remarks come in the wake of Dr Bawumia's recent address to Ghanaians at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, where he outlined his vision for the country as the NPP's flagbearer. During the lecture, Dr Bawumia pledged to implement bold solutions for Ghana's future, including the abolition of the E-Levy and the elimination of VAT on electricity, emissions tax, and betting tax as part of efforts to promote a cashless society.
