NETRIGHT donates items to flood victims in Volta Region

The Network for Women's Rights (NETRIGHT), with funding support from the Africa Women Development Fund, has provided relief items to victims in the North and Districts of the .

The donation, worth Gh¢120,000.00, targeted women, girls, and persons with disabilities in Mepe and Sokpoe.

Madam Patricia Blankson-Akakpo, Head of Secretariat at NETRIGHT, expressed concern about the challenges faced by women, girls, and persons with disabilities in the affected areas.

The relief items were distributed based on assessments conducted by NETRIGHT, in collaboration with Global Action for (GLOWA) and other NETRIGHT members.

The donation aimed to assist the affected people in rebuilding their lives after the spillage, which led to widespread displacement and destruction of livelihoods.

The relief items, including rice, mattresses, gari, tin tomatoes, sanitary pads, cooking oil, soap, washing powder, mackerel, and sachet water, were provided to ensure access to food and clean drinking water.

Madam Blankson-Akakpo emphasized that NETRIGHT, AWDF, and GLOWA shared in the suffering of the displaced and took this action to provide support and comfort.

The gesture aligns with NETRIGHT's mandate to support the vulnerable in society, particularly women, girls, and persons with disabilities.

The Paramount Queen of Sokpoe Traditional Area, Mamaga Adzesu II, expressed gratitude for the support, while Ms Rosemond Ewoenam Atutonu, Executive Director of GLOWA, urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items and maintain them properly.
