The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly rebuked three prominent members, Muntaka Mubarak, Sam George, and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, for publicly expressing their post-election grievances instead of utilizing internal party channels.
Sam George, representing Ningo Prampram, Muntaka Mubarak of Asawase, and Felix Kwakye Ofosu of Abura Asebu-Kwamankese, have been openly criticizing certain NDC leaders, accusing them of undermining their campaigns and seeking to remove them from office.
During an interview with Joy News, they accused specific national executives of interference in the recently concluded primaries, rather than acting as impartial referees. Consequently, they have called for sanctions against these executives for meddling in their electoral processes.
In response, Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, expressed his view on Joy FM's Top Story that the three members should have utilized the party's internal structures instead of resorting to media platforms.
“While acknowledging their grievances, it is essential to note that airing grievances in the media is not the appropriate way to address them. We have internal mechanisms for handling and resolving complaints,” Gbande emphasized.
He further added that at this time, party members should refrain from actions and comments that could undermine party unity, especially considering the election is over. Gbande stressed the importance of resolving grievances through established internal processes and discouraging behaviors that disrupt party cohesion.
Gbande pointed out that if the party were to punish individuals as demanded, it should begin with those who failed to utilize the established party structures to address their concerns. He urged members to channel their grievances internally, highlighting that resorting to the media or taking legal action against the party only creates divisions and undermines party loyalty.
He affirmed that the party's leadership, including the flag bearer and the NPP, would work towards inclusivity and addressing concerns going forward. Gbande emphasized the need for unity within the party and stated that those who have been elected should not be the ones complaining about unfair treatment in the media, as they have already overcome numerous challenges to win their elections. He stressed that the focus should be on supporting them in achieving their aim of winning future elections.
