The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly criticized Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for statements he made regarding industrialization during a campaign trail in Kumawu.
During the campaign in the Ashanti Region, Dr Bawumia claimed that “NDC built only two factories but the NPP has built over 150 factories.”
In response, the NDC stated, “The claim by the Vice President is a barefaced lie. For the records, the erstwhile NDC/Mahama administration established strategic, high priority State-owned factories that anchored growth in key sectors of the Ghanaian economy.”
The party's Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, emphasized in a statement that if Dr Bawumia's claim of “150 factories” refers to the government's 1D1F program, then he needs to educate himself about the initiative, as none of the factories was actually built by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.
Furthermore, the NDC criticized Dr Bawumia for his comment on guinea fowls flying to Burkina Faso under John Mahama's presidency, labelling it a deliberately contrived lie.
The statement highlighted that investigative journalist Manasseh Azuri Awuni, who looked into the guinea fowl production and marketing joint venture project by the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and the Asongtaba Cottage Industry, has refuted this claim.
The NDC concluded by stating, “That the Vice President will continue to dabble in this cheap spin reveals how low he has descended.”
