All is set for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to commission the Borteyman Sports Complex on Tuesday, February 13. This multipurpose sports facility, newly built for the 13th Africa Games scheduled from March 8-23, marks Ghana's first opportunity to host the continental games.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC), led by Dr Kwaku Ofosu Asare, is working tirelessly to ensure a memorable event. The commissioning by the President will pave the way for the facility's use by various sports codes for training before the Games commence.
A test run of the swimming, tennis, athletics, and handball venues will be conducted to assess readiness for the Games. According to the Technical Handbook issued by the LOC, the $154 million facility will host swimming, handball, badminton, table tennis, tennis, indoor volleyball, and triathlon events.
Ghana anticipates over 13,000 visitors from across the continent to participate and witness this historic continental showpiece in Accra.
