The Naglogu Care Foundation (NCF) has organised a cerebral palsy sensitisation walk in Tamale to raise public awareness about the condition and promote inclusion for persons with disabilities.
The event, dubbed “Walk with Radia 2025”, was led by Miss Radia Nuhu, Founder of the Foundation, and brought together hundreds of participants from diverse backgrounds in a united show of solidarity, compassion, and advocacy for social change.
The walk formed part of activities by the Foundation and its partners to mark this year’s World Cerebral Palsy Day celebration. It took participants through the principal streets of Tamale, where they educated the public on cerebral palsy—a lifelong neurological condition that affects movement and muscle coordination.
The event also aimed to encourage improved care, acceptance, and inclusion of individuals living with the condition. Participants carried placards bearing messages such as “Cerebral Palsy is not a curse”, “With Care and Therapy, Children with Cerebral Palsy Can Thrive”, “Different Abilities, Same Dreams”, and “They are not Evil Spirits, They are Human like Us.”
Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), youth-led organisations, and volunteers actively participated in the walk, which was held on Sunday, October 5.
Speaking during the event, Miss Nuhu expressed gratitude to the people of Tamale and all partners for their support in advancing the Foundation’s mission of awareness creation and compassion for children and adults living with cerebral palsy.
“Today, we have walked not just for awareness but for hope and change. Cerebral palsy does not define a person’s worth or potential. With care, therapy, and love, individuals with cerebral palsy can thrive and live meaningful lives,” she said.
She urged parents, guardians, and caregivers not to discriminate against children with cerebral palsy, stressing that with the right support, they could grow into responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to society.
Miss Nuhu also thanked volunteers, youth groups, and partner organisations for their continuous commitment to the Foundation’s work.
Mr Abass Safian, Executive Director of Alisco Media Hub, praised the initiative, describing it as a symbol of community unity and empathy towards persons with disabilities.
