MPs who approved new ministers betrayed us - Ayariga

The Member of for Central, Mahama Ayariga, expressed his disappointment in members of the National Democratic Congress () who secretly voted in favour of President Nana Addo Dankwa 's six new ministerial nominees, despite the party's warning.

On Friday, March 24, 2023, approved the president's nominees following a secret vote, despite the 's leadership's directive not to approve them.

After the vote, it emerged that some members of the had voted in favour of the nominees.

Speaking on the Big Issue, Mr Mahama Ayariga said, “It was disappointing because the numbers were too many. And all of us stand indicted no matter what we say.”

“Our issue with this is not necessarily about the individuals in question. We are talking about the size of government. We have communicated this stance enough for all members to come to terms with this.”

He expressed concern that the party's stance, which was based on the national interest, was compromised by some of its members.

“We have totally disappointed Ghanaians who believed in us and bought into our argument against the size of government. We actually have no moral right to talk about the issue anymore.”

Mr Ayariga is calling for an urgent meeting between the of the house and the leadership of the NDC to discuss the issue.
