The Member of Parliament for the Akim Abuakwa South constituency, Samuel Atta Akyea, has criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for what he perceives as a failure to adequately promote the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
Atta Akyea expressed his concerns about the president's approach to publicizing the educational policy during an interview on Face to Face on Citi TV.
He emphasized the importance of effective communication, noting, “I think President Akufo-Addo has been a bad storyteller too. There's no president in this realm called Ghana, who said people should go to secondary school for free. Do you think it's cheap?”
Atta Akyea acknowledged the monumental nature of the Free SHS policy, stating that even if it is not perfect, President Akufo-Addo has laid the foundation for the nation's development.
He highlighted the potential impact on the nation's brainpower in the next two decades.
He defended the president, stating, “I do not think he [Akufo-Addo] has underperformed. What I believe is that he has had a lot of trouble. People underrate the power of the COVID-19.”
