The Minority Caucus in Parliament has made a formal request for the details of the judgement regarding James Gyakye Quayson, the former Assin North MP, to be made available by June 7.
This request is necessary before the Caucus can proceed with a vote on the President's Chief Justice nominee, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
Following the vetting of the Supreme Court Justice by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, the Minority Caucus refrained from casting a vote on the nominee. The group insists on reviewing the complete judgement before making any decision.
While the possibility of a second vetting looms, the chairman of the Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has stated that there will be no such vetting.
In a press release, the Minority Chief Whip expressed the expectation of the Minority Caucus for the cooperation of the Majority in fulfilling their request to bring closure to the vetting process.
